Palamidi Fortress

The Fortress of Palamidi was built by the Venetians between 1711 and 1714 in the town hill of Nafplio. It is well preserved, regarded as a masterpiece of military architecture. The hill is named Palamidi, inspired from the Homeric hero Palamedes. It is also known as the place, where the liberation of the city from the Turks, had started.
