The Diolkos, constructed by Periander, was a paved trackway near ancient Corinth, which enabled boats to be moved overland across the Isthmus of Corinth, saving ships sailing from the Ionian sea to the Aegean Sea. Its width ranged from three to five meters.
This big project was built by Periander and connected the eastern port of Kechrion in the Saronic Gulf with the western port of Lecheou in the Corinthian Gulf. The width of diolkos ranged from three to five meters. Ships were pulled by wheeled wagons, whose name was “boat slide.”
