Archaeological Museum of Poros

Back

The Archaeological Museum of Poros exhibits statues dating back to the classical period and archaeological findings that arose from the excavations of the Temple of Poseidon (6th century BC), Ancient Troizina (home of the mythological hero Theseus), the Royal Tombs of Magoula (a fine sample of the great Mycenaean civilization) and Apatheia, Modi and St. Konstantinos of Methana.

An overview of the capitals of the three main architectural styles and their evolution from archaic to Roman times is offered to visitors through the exhibition of a series of capitals (Doric-Ionic-Corinthian) from the excavation at the sanctuary of Poseidon at Kalaureia.
