Ancient Tiryns

Back

Ancient Tiryns is built on a low hill. The entrance to the Acropolis is situated on the eastern side of the hill. The height of the walls is impressive, some parts of them even standing taller than the walls of the Mycenae. Nowadays, their height is about 7.5 meters and their width about 8 meters. At the lower levels of the Acropolis there are secret tunnels that used to be secret paths to secured tanks of drinkable water. Reaching the upper levels of the Acropolis, visitors come across the remains of the palaces, very well preserved to this day.
