Nea Epidaurus Castle

Back

It was built at a strategic location, on a rocky hill not far from the sea, to protect the area from enemies and pirates. The Medieval Castle was reinforced, when the Venetians took the region under their rule in 1205. Today among the ruins of some of the towers of the castle, stands the church of St. John (1710) with old frescoes.
